About the Academy of Homiletics

The Academy of Homiletics was founded in 1965, and now has a membership of nearly 400. Although we are of North American origin, our membership spans the world. Membership in the Academy of Homiletics is open to teachers and doctoral graduate students of homiletics. If you are unsure about your eligibility for membership, please contact the Academy.

Academy of Homiletics Lifetime Achievement Award

Since 2001, the Academy of Homiletics has presented a Lifetime Achievement Award to deserving individuals. Past recepients are:

2001 – David Buttrick, Fred Craddock, Joan Delaplane, Henry Mitchell

2002 – Eugene Lowry, Charles Rice, Lucy Rose, Wayne Shaw

2003 – James Cox, Morris Niedenthal

2004 – Don Wardlaw

2005 – David Randolph, William Thompson, Donald McLeod, Edwina Hunter

2007 – O. C. Edwards, Jr., Richard Lischer 

2008 - Charles Bartow, Ella Mitchell

2009 - Evans Crawford
