NEW POSITIONS AND PROMOTIONS, 2025-2026

Timothy Levi Adkins-Jones

Appointed as Assistant Professor of Homiletics at the Boston University School of Theology, effective July 1, 2025.  Timothy previously served as Assistant Professor of Homiletics at Union Theological Seminary.  You can read more about Timothy’s appointment here.

Tyshawn Gardner

Appointed to the David E. Garland Endowed Chair in Preaching at Baylor University’s Truett Theological Seminary, effective June 1, 2025.  Tyshawn will continue serving as Assistant Director of the Kyle Lake Center for Preaching.  You can read more about Tyshawn’s appointment here.

Shauna Hannan

Appointed as the President of the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago (LSTC), effective July 1, 2025.  Shauna most recently served as Professor of Homiletics at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary and as core doctoral faculty at the Graduate Theological Union.  You can read more about Shauna’s appointment here.

Andre E. Johnson
Promoted to Distinguished Professor at Memphis Theological Seminary, holding the rank of full Professor. You can read more about Andre’s recent accomplishments here.

Xavier Johnson

Appointed as Homiletician in Residence for the 2025-2026 program year for the “Compelling Preaching for a Climate-Changed World,” a partnership of Lexington Theological Seminary, The BTS Center, and Creation Justice Ministries.  Xavier currently serves as Assistant Professor in the Practice of Preaching and Black Church Studies at United Theological Seminary.  You can read more about Xavier’s appointment here.

Mason Lee
Appointed as Dean and Chief Academic Officer of the Graduate School of Theology at Abilene Christian University, where he has served since 2020.  Mason is Assistant Professor of Practical Theology.

Casey Thornburgh Sigmon
Promoted to Associate Professor of Preaching and Worship (with tenure) at the Saint Paul School of Theology, effective July 1, 2025.  Casey is also the Director of Contextual Education and the Pause/Play Center (a Lily grant project), and has taught at SPST since 2016.

David M. Stark

Appointed as Homiletics Instructor and Director of the Kerygma Initiative at Palmer Theological Seminary at Eastern University in Philadelphia.  David is also the editor of International Journal of Homiletics, the journal produced by Societas Homiletica.

Janiece Renee Williams

Appointed as Visiting Lecturer in Homiletics at Virginia Theological Seminary for the 2025-2026 academic year.  Janiece has also been appointed as Homiletician in Residence with the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Largo, Maryland.
